About Wenzel:
Wenzel has been bringing families together and creating lasting memories in the outdoors for the last 120 years. When the sun rose on the first family campers in America, Wenzel was there. Wenzel has built a company around the basic human need to escape, recharge, and connect with the outdoors. Wenzel creates the modern tools that families require to experience the outdoors in comfort. To do this, they run each product through a very specialized filter--their own families. New features for family camping are easy to talk about in boardrooms with power point presentations, but are a whole different story in the middle of the woods. Wenzel knows what family camping is like, which is why they make the tents easy to set up, take down and pack away for next time.

This tent sets up very easy, I had no trouble with the rain fly as some reviewers did. After setting it up in 20 minutes, I was so happy with the looks of it. Early the next morning it rained and the tent leaked big time. I used seam sealer right after I set up. The real problem area's are the stitched in pockets on both sides of the tent. Water was pouring down the sides of the fly and right through the poor stitching in that area. My initial apprehensiveness about buying this tent without a bathtub floor came back to bite me as the lining on the floor started to leak as well. (I had a well fitted tarp underneath) bottom line don't be seduced like I was for a big tent for such a cheap price. It could be such a better tent if it was manufactured correctly. I won't use it again.

Like the previous reviewer I was surprised at the weight as compared to my previous 10x10 family monster, but the added screeen room and poles have much to do with that. I set the tent up the first time in the same 20 minutes and figured out how I would be doing it the following weekend at a busy group camping trip to the Adirondacks. I can do it solo in about 15 minutes now.
Before using the tent flop it out in your yard and get some moisture barrier plastic sheeting from your giant-box-home-supply-store-of-choice so you can cut a ground sheet. It's an odd shape to cut (chase the border of the tent 1" inboard of the edges with an opened scissors - takes 5 minutes) but a ground sheet is necessary.
I wanted a dome with a vestibule and clip-to-pole assembly for max air flow under the fly. Like the previous reviewer it would be great if there were windows on the two 'back' walls, but the two provided are big and more than adequate. Leave the tent door open and the vestibule windows unzipped for great airflow and a decent view from the privacy of the tent room. The vestibule is fully floored so it makes a great place for all gear and shoes, keeping the tent clean and uncluttered. Four chairs would fit two a side with room to play cards or read, but they may poke through the floor. Best to sit on the floor if needed.
It rained one night. The fly did a great job of keeping us dry. We had a quarter-sized puddle on each side and I think it comes in at the corner of the window openings. The zip-up covers unzip to within 3" of the bottom of the screen, creating a little pocket where water pools until it runs down the side of the tent. A bit drips in the corner of the window closest to the door (tent was pitched downhill toward the door a degree or two). I'll seal those corners and see if that helps. A bathtub floor construction would catapult this tent way ahead of the competition. We were dry, but the ground-level seam to tent walls didn't give peace of mind as well as a tub would have.
I didn't mind the D-door or main inverted T door, but it would be nice if the zip pulls used reflective material for the pulls so they were easily found. Same for the fly guy lines. I leaned sticks against the guy lines so my kids would see them. I bought some line and will replace all the guys and pulls.
My list of minor nits with this tent;
* floor should be bathtub design for better stormworthiness
* fly should be a lighter color so the tent doesn't get so hot under the sun
* D-door hold-open loops are way too big so they unhook with the slightest touch
* All windows are without securing loops for the unzipped covers. The only thing to do is to roll them up and stuff them into the 3" deep pocket left due to the covers unzipping to 3" above the bottom edge of the screen. This pocket doesn't hold the covers well so they flop around a lot.
* Poles that support the vestibule are steel with a capped end, so they don't stick into the ground at all. They slip around and allow the vestibule to collapse. I will replace the round caps with pointed ones so the poles spear into the ground and allow the vestibule to be tensioned properly. A cleaner design might use a long fiberglass pole that loops through the vestibule and down to the insertion points of the front two tent poles.
I still think I bought the best 4 or 5 person dome tent with attached vestibule. Nothing else was similar in size, particularly the vestibule. Most of the nits I can fix myself. But if it came that way it would be a super tent.

As soon as the tent arrived I got to unpacking and setting it up. My first impression was that it is pretty heavy compared to my 2-person tent, but I expected as much. Rolling the tent out on the lawn made me realize just how big this tent is. It's Huge! (17' long).
Putting the tent together went quickly. The first time took about 20 minutes, subsequent setups took about 10 minutes. It does require a second person to be inside the tent while the other person attaches the poles. Chances are you'll have someone to help you if you're buying a tent this size. I'm pretty sure I will find a way to set this up myself though.
My main purposes for buying this tent are that my Coleman 4-in-1 Quickbed completely filled my old 2-person tent, I needed more room for gear inside the tent, and I wanted a separate mud room for my St. Bernard and Great Dane dogs. This tent brilliantly fills all those requirements.
We love that we can stand up straight (I'm about 5'9") in the center of the tent, the main room stays much cleaner with dogs and shoes left in the front room, and there are plenty of screened walls and ceilings. There are several little pockets and places to hang items inside.
My girlfriend thinks the rain fly should be a different color since the bright blue doesn't match or compliment the dark blue on the tent. I wish it had two extra windows on the two back walls. It would also be nice if the front door was a double-D instead of and inverted-T so we dont have to duck as much to get in. It rained while we were camping and we did noticed a few small puddles of water. I'm not sure where they came from but I dont think they were from condensation (the screened ceiling cuts down on that). I have some seam sealer and tent water-proofer on my wish list which may address that issue.
All-in-all it's a great tent if you have the space in which to set it up. I'd recommend it.
8/14/2011 update: One of the tent pole's elastic cord broke after setting up the tent several times. I was able to still use it since it didnt affect the segments from fitting together. Upon returning home I called the toll-free number, talked to a friendly representative, and about ten minutes later I was off the phone with a replacement tent pole in the mail. The replacement wasn't new (this is typical for in-warranty repairs/replacements) but it works fine and if I have another issue in the future it will probably get resolved just as quickly as this one did.
One more thing: I replaced the king size Coleman bed I mentioned above with the queen size version (Coleman Queen Quickbed with Wrap 'N' Roll Storage). This smaller bed leaves tons of floor space in the tent for gear, so I recommend that as well if you're looking for a good air mattress.
